Different Spiritual Paths
There are a whole host of tattoo symbols that spring from the spiritual beliefs of many diverse believers who do not necessarily subscribe to one of the major religions.
Below is a list of only a few spiritual symbols drawn from many different groups–each of which could easily have its own section in this web site–groups such as the indigenous beliefs of Native peoples (like the totem pole or shaman), eastern philosophies (like the yin-yang symbol), ancient religions (Eye of Horus or the ankh), and even symbols which seem to cross into all sorts of beliefs (praying hands and wings).

Wicca Symbol
Wicca is Old English for wizard and is a more recent combination of witchcraft and nature worship. A frequently used symbol for this group is the pentagram in a circle, flanked by outward facing crescent moons. Without the pentagram, it becomes the symbol for the Goddess.

Totem Pole
Ancestral beings are carved in the family totem poles of peoples of the Pacific Northwest. Often, these ancestors are supernatural beings from whom a direct lineage is traced.

All-Seeing Eye
The all-seeing eye within a pyramid is a symbol shrouded in mystery for a group that may not even exist – the illuminati. It is also a symbol, however, that pops up in the Great Seal of the United States and in all types of tattoos.
