As we've seen in past polls, many of the people who stop by the web site are in search of that perfect tattoo symbol -- what would you expect at TattooSymbol.com? For one-quarter of the participants, though, cost is a deciding factor. It's as true in tattooing as anything else that you get what you pay for. If you have your sights set on a particular tattooist or design or both, but can't afford it, then waiting until you can might be a good course. It's a tattoo after all. Not being able to find the right tattooist is preventing 7% of the participants from getting a tattoo. Again, it's your skin and your experience, whether it's your first tattoo or your fifteenth. You need to be comfortable with your choice. For a small but significant percentage, pain is the reason they haven't gotten a tattoo. All people experience pain to different degrees for all sorts of physical and non-physical reasons. Different parts of the body are also more (over bones) or less (the lower back) painful. Despite the fact that 30 million people in the U.S. are tattooed, and many of them tattooed multiple times, the pain of tattooing is real and each individual decides what they can or can't endure. Another 5% of respondents gives "Other" as the reason that they aren't getting a tattoo. These factors can range anywhere from medical reasons (e.g., impaired immune system or compromised skin condition) to religious prohibitions, touching on everything in-between (maybe the opinion of your significant other). There are sometimes alot of factors to consider when you "think about the ink!" (Percentages don't tally due to rounding error.)
