The majority of people got their first tattoo after crossing that generic legal threshold of 18 years of age. But, as indicated by School of Nursing Professor Myrna Armstrong’s study, high school students are also tattooed. She found that one in ten already had a tattoo and that over half were interested in getting one. Our results, that about one out of three people got their first tattoo between the ages of 11 and 17, might indicate that tattoo popularity is on the rise in that age group (as it is with most age groups actually). Far fewer seem to go under the needle *for the first time* after the age of 26. It would seem that if you’re going to take the plunge, you decide to do it pretty early.(Percentages don’t tally due to rounding error.)
