Davy Jones Tattoo Symbol

Davy (or Davey) Jones' Locker is another way of saying "the bottom of the sea" and, by association, the final resting place of drowned sailors and even death at sea in general. Who the original Davy Jones might have been is unknown. Some speculate that Jones comes from "Jonah", the biblical prophet who was cast into the sea and that Davy comes from "duffy" which was used by West Indian blacks to refer to a ghost. In any event, the anchor, the skull and the crossbones make a fitting accompaniment for any tattoo that commemorates the spirits of the deep.
