Chinese Zodiac Year of the Dog Tattoo

Years of the Dog - 1922, 1934, 1946, 1958, 1970, 1982, 1994, 2006

Despite being overwhelmingly associated with death the world over, the dog is seen much more as a guardian and faithful companion in Japan and China where the obedient dog is a symbol of obeying the law.

In China, dogs are the worthy companions of the legendary Immortals. When the Great Venerable appeared on Mount T'ai She, he had a yellow dog with him. When the alchemist Wei Po-yang ascended into heaven, he took his dog with him. In fact, the ancestor of all mankind, P'an-ku, may have been a dog (or a man with a dog's head).

In the Chinese zodiac, people who are born in the Year of the Dog are loyal to the extreme. Intelligent but straightforward, idealistic and unselfish, other people constantly turn to Dog people for help. They gladly accept the responsibility, even remaining cool under pressure, and ultimately get the job done. Although they can sometimes be worriers and somewhat critical, they are sensitive to others and can readily empathize.

People born in the Year of the Dog are considered most compatible with people born in the Year of the Tiger or Horse while they are least compatible with those born in the Year of the Dragon.
